My name is Ruben and I was the Head Basketball Coach at Gonzales High School. I’ve been in sports and around the weight room in high school and college and had a pretty good idea of what I needed to do to get our kids stronger. I had never considered asking someone to help us out in the weight room.
Coach Ed was watching us one day and he asked me for permission to correct the form of one of our players. I told him to feel free to and in 10 minutes he had our player squatting lower than I had seen him go. That’s all it took for other players to approach him and ask him for help on their lifts.
I’m now an assistant football coach at a different school, so you know I reached out to coach Ed to help with our weight training. Again, he asked good questions as to what equipment we had, how many stations, etc and came up with a plan. He made sure I understood the idea behind the program, and how to substitute lifts so I can push our guys more or less depending on how our kids are doing. Within a couple of weeks our kids were stronger than I had ever seen them.
Thanks coach Ed for all the help an always making time to answer my questions! If you are a coach and not a weight room expert and can get coach Ed to help you, Do it! Listen to coach Ed, he knows what he’s doing!
